Mahindra Scorpio crashes into the side of the XUV700: Here’s the result [Video]

Mahindra and Mahindra has remained the top SUV maker in the country for a long time now. In the recent times, the brand has been minting SUVs that are excelling on the Global N-CAP crash test ratings. Well, here is an accident with an old Mahindra and a new Mahindra. The result will surpise you.

The accident between the old-gen Mahindra Scorpio and the all-new XUV700 shows us how the cars have become safer. This is a T-bone accident where the Mahindra Scorpio hit the Mahindra XUV700 from the side. The high-speed crash shows how the Mahindra Scorpio has really suffered with massive damages. Whereas, the XUV700 looks like it got away with some dents.

While the exact details on how the accident happened and at what speed the crash took place remain unknown. However, the post crash pictures show the massive damages to the front-end of the Scorpio. The crash has left the SUV with structural damages with the bonnet crushing in, chassis damages and even damages to the front axle of the car. However, the crumple zone ensured that the cabin did not suffer any damages. All the occupants of the car were safe.

The XUV7o0 has not suffered much of a visible damage. We can see big dents of the doors and the curtain and side airbags have deployed. Even the fenders have taken a lot of damages in this accident. The passengers of the XUV700 were not injured too. We are not sure if the doors were still functional after the accident.

Mahindra Scorpio scored zero stars

Back in 2016, when Global NCAP tested the Scorpio’s base variant that did not offer any airbags at that time flunked the test royally and scored only zero stars. Global N-CAP also rated the shell structure of the Scorpio as unstable after the crash test.

Mahindra is yet to send the all-new Scorpio-N for a Global NCAP test rating. After the five-star rated XUV700, we believed that Mahindra would take the opportunity to send the new Scorpio-N for the crash test too. However, that is yet to happen.

The top-end variant of the all-new Mahindra Scorpio-N offers safety features like six airbags, ESP, hill hold control, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system, driver drowsiness detection system and more.

XUV700 scored 5-stars

Mahindra XUV700 became the second Mahindra car in history to get a complete five-star rating. The SUV received the crash test ratings in accordance to the previous rules, which did not include a side crash test.

Global NCAP awarded the five-star rating after the Mahindra XUV700 scored 16.03 out of a total of 17 points. The car’s structure is also rated as stable. The crash test also found out that the potential injuries to the front passengers also remain marginal. The car has also received the highest points ever for a child safety rating when it was tested. It scored 41.66 out of a maximum of 49, the highest for any made-in-India car. The bodyshell and teh footwell area of the Mahindra XUV700 were rated as stable.
