The American Powertrain Parting Shift: This Dude Swapped A 10-Speed Road Ranger Transmission Into His Cummins Powered Dodge!
Sure, it may get annoying after a couple years but before that, rowing through 10-gears in your pickup truck would be huge fun, right? This guy knows for sure because he actually did it. He installed a 10-speed Road Ranger transmission into his early 1990s Dodge pickup (which is Cummins powered) by machining a custom tail housing and coupler setup and it seems to work like a charm. You’ll see the dude snick through the gears and follow the pattern like a boss as he takes a cruise down the road.
Yes, the first few gears are a little in the short department but it looks and sounds cool when he goes through all of them in the truck. We man have bent or a t least shortened the shifter but he decided to leave it stock length and we get it. This must draw some really awesome looks from people who are paying attention. We’re guessing many of them think it is just a weirdo shifter and miss the fact that this thing is the real McCoy!
We have featured many ponderous engine swaps here over the years and there are likely some of you that think this belongs in that pile but we think you are wrong. This is BangShifty and neat in every sense of the term!
